Russian forces attempted to cross the Kazennyi Torets River near Pokrovsk using an improvised bridge-laying vehicle based on the T-80BVM tank.
The operation failed and, according to Ukrainian estimates, at least 27 Russian vehicles and pieces of equipment have already been lost at the site, which has become a critical point on the front line.
Images released by the 1st Azov Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine show the unsuccessful attempt of a mechanized assault toward Dobropillia, involving tanks, MT-LB armored vehicles, recovery equipment and an improvised bridge attached to the front of the armored vehicle. The offensive took place along multiple simultaneous routes but was neutralized by Ukrainian forces.
Analysts point out that although the river is narrow, it poses a major challenge due to the muddy terrain and constant drone surveillance. Even with the use of improvised systems and tank-mounted bridges, Russian crossings continue to be quickly detected and destroyed, resulting in significant losses of armored vehicles and equipment.
